Hi friends! How’s the day going? I hope you’re having a lovely morning. The weather has cooled down here quite a bit and I can feel the tiniest bit of fall in the air. P and I are taking the dogs for a walk together and going to make a stop to the library; her favorite place! I’m also excited to catch a Peloton class later this afternoon.

For today’s post, I thought I’d share a full day of meals now that I’m on the macro counting train. So many people have asked me for more meal ideas that are balanced in macros throughout the day, so I’m sharing some of my go-tos. Please keep in mind that I’m not a Registered Dietitian and if you need help with an individualized eating plan, please see out an RD in your area.

This particular day was a moderate carb day and I alternate the amounts of carbs throughout the week according to my workout. It was a super sweaty Orangetheory power day.

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 egg whites, spinach, grain-free tortillas, salsa, and coffee with MCT oil and collagen

I usually have breakfast when I’m back from school drop-off so I have time to put everything together. In the morning, it’s everything in my power to get the girls fed and the 3 of us dressed and out the door.

Mid-morning snack: Vanilla Silk almond milk yogurt alternative with a chocolate peanut butter protein ball (recipe coming soon!)

The Silk almond milk yogurt alternative has become one of my fave healthy snack options. I love it for a quick bite, and I’ll either eat it on its own (the flavors are amazing!) or crumble granola or a protein ball into it. I also enjoy it with fresh fruit, on top of waffles (try it- so good), or the plain flavor in tuna salad or drizzled on tacos instead of sour cream.

Here’s why it’s amazing:

It’s gluten-free, vegan, carrageenan-free (this is huge because it can be tough to find dairy-free almond milk products without this ingredient), and soy-free. My friends at Silk offered to hook you up with a coupon code to try it if you haven’t already! Here’s the link to grab it. The vanilla flavor is my very favorite. It tastes like real vanilla bean (not weird or artificial at all) and I’ve also popped it in the freezer for a bit to enjoy more like frozen yogurt.

Lunch: salad with lots of fresh veggies, tuna, avocado oil dressing, and a big slice of sourdough from Barrio Bread

This week I actually meal prepped! It’s made such a huge difference to have fresh chopped veggies in the fridge ready to go.

Dinner: rice with edamame, salmon, and mango salsa

This is one of the few dinners I can count on the girls eating right now. I just pan-sear the salmon with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder and then bake it. While it’s baking, I cook wild rice in the Instant Pot, add greens at the last minute to wilt, and top everything with mango salsa.

Dessert: mug of tea, a couple of pieces of chocolate, and a book in bed

Eating chocolate before bed used to keep me awake… and now, pretty much nothing can keep me awake at night. (You know, besides small children haha.)

So, tell me friends: what are some of your go-to snacks right now? Do you meal prep each week, or not so much?

xoxo

Gina

Hey hey! Happy Thursday! Thank you so much for all of the “get well” wishes. Thankfully, the cold was zapped quickly and I’m on the ups. Thank you to those of you who took the time to listen to this week’s podcast episode, too. I’m so happy you enjoyed the episode— this one was SO much fun to put together.

For today, I have an all-new workout for you! This is one you can do anywhere in 20 minutes. I’m a huge fan of AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible) workouts because they encourage me to work HARD. I kn

ow I have a set time to go after it, so I feel extra motivated to crank out as many rounds as I can within the time block. This one is body weight only, so no excuses!

(As always, check with a doctor before making any fitness changes. Honor your body and modify as needed.)

(wearing Zella leggings and lululemon tank)

Here’s what the workout looks like:

Form cues and tips:

Run .25 miles or power walk .12 miles: challenge yourself on this one!

Burpees x 10: Sit into your squat and bring both hands to the floor, firmly planting your entire hand. Walk or hop back to a plank position (push-up here optional), walk or hop your feet back to your hands, and jump vertically, raising your arms overhead.

Push-up and shoulder tap x 10 total: Start on your knees or toes, with hands wide and knuckles pressing into the floor. Keep your hips down as you perform your pushup, exhaling on the way up. As you rise, tap your opposite shoulder with one arm. Place the hand back down before your next pushup and repeat on the opposite side.

Mountain climbers x 20 total: Get in plank position with your wrists under your shoulders. Bring one knee towards the elbow on the same side. Move back to plank and switch to the opposite side. For more of a challenge, move as quickly as possible.

X abs x 20 total: Lie on your back with your arms and legs out in an “X” shape and off the ground. Lift one arms and the opposite leg up, reaching towards your toes, lower back down and repeat on the other side.

Please let me know if you give it a try!

Workout check-in: what did you do for your workout today, or what’s on the plan later? I’m taking a FLAMENCO class! AHH. I’ll be sure to report back in Friday Faves.

Have a wonderful day!

xoxo

Workout headphones might be the most under-appreciated item in your gym bag. Everything else—from your combination padlock to your sweat-wicking shorts—serves a purely utilitarian purpose. But those tiny speakers carry the singular responsibility of kicking your motivation into overdrive. If the tunes are inspired and the hardware is worthy, your headphones can turn your ho-hum workout into the kind of toning session that converts an average Jack into a Hugh Jackman.

No grooming ingredient compares to powder: Its sweat-absorbing, skin-soothing, friction-stopping powers make it an obvious choice for the active man (and the just plain sweaty man, too). Yet, powder-based products might not be on your shopping list. That’s partly because some powders are masquerading as creams, lotions, fragrances, and hair products—and it’s up to you to seek them out.
